Marbled Janvier

Soon after selecting Janvier I decided to revisit the shaving foam marbling technique our Text'Art group played with a number of years ago. I would have liked to had another go at this as it's so much fun. However, I will ensure NOT to use scented shaving foam from the dollar store. I used a facing to complete the round shape and am pleased with the outcome.

  1. I love your quilt. Did you use fabric paint or ink? I'm planning to use the same technique: I've never tried it before, so it's going to be a bit of an adventure. I shall take the hint and not buy the scented shaving foam!

  2. A really good inspired piece of work done giving a really good marbled effect. I have never tried the shaving foam method but have seen it demonstrated, so this is perhaps a good time to give it a go on other pieces I have in the pipeline. Inspired.

  4. What a great use of the shaving foam technique that we played with. I've always fancied trying it again, and it really suits this artist's work! You were able to get the thin lines and ripple effects which seem quite a characteristic in some of his work.

  10. Both you and Helena have opted for circular quilts which you have both done incredibly well . The marbling technique is fascinating and gives a wonderful ethereal effect to the quilt . I have never done it myself but it sounds intriguing.
