The group blog of four quiltmakers and textile artists scattered around the world in 4 countries and across three continents.
Our aim is to create a small quilt every three months.
The theme is chosen by the members in turn.
Our website is: www.12bythedozen.weebly.com
The idea for "Spool Structure" was borrowed ( with permission) from Julie Poirier who designed a "Fractured Quilt" for the Beaconsfield Quilters Guild to do for our annual quilt show in May. This is one sixth of the whole.
Brilliant Marion. Having done one of the sections for the fractured quilt for the guild I can't wait to see how you've done this. The detail is incredible.
A beautiful piece, Marion, that certainly stands on its own. Can't you see this in a very large size, as the focal point in a contemporary loft design or a corporate space? A thread manufacturer or distributor would be very lucky to get their hands on such a piece.
please share some of your techniques of image transfer and/or stitch. i simply love it - your very effective monochromatic pallette for items so colorful. it kind of rings of 'pop art' which i find so appealing. beautiful marion
So much dimension and detail! How long did it take you to make this? Love the monochromatic effect...with the emphasis on light and shadow! It certainly "speaks" to all of us who love thread.
Very clever, Marion. Especially with the threads dangling. What techniques did you use - some of it looks painted.
ReplyDeleteSensational Marion! What a triumph!
ReplyDeleteSo clever! Beautifully executed, Marion. I hope we see the whole picture some time. Some clever techniques in the piece.
ReplyDeleteHilary
PS It looks a lot tidier than my collection of threads!

ReplyDeleteWhat an insired subject choice for this challenge! Your combination of paint(?)and thread is very effective.
ReplyDeleteWow! Great piece. Very clever.
ReplyDeleteSuch an interesting perspective that jumps out at one - I think it is so clever.
