Helsinki University Library

At first I thought this was going to be really difficult until I found so many absolutely beautiful libraries around the world.  It was a difficult choice, but for those who know me well I do like curves so when I saw some of the images of the Helsinki University Library I was hooked.  This is therefore my inspiration for my piece.

You will see that in the one image there is a touch of dark red which I placed in my piece to give it a focal point and to bring in a touch of colour.

I really enjoyed working on this piece.

  3. This is a very elegant quilt, very carefully interpreting the building. The proportions seem just perfect, it is a really good composition. THe tiny flash of colour is also perfectly placed. Love it!

  4. The choice of the Helsinki Library was perfect for your love of interestingly curved lines . I really love the beautiful simplicity of this design and the subdued use of colour . Brilliant the way you have drawn our eyes to that piece of red in a spiral way creating real depth to the design . I can see that you loved doing this piece.

  5. Take a bow, the queen of curves! This is so special, Patricia. Beautiful lines and quilting and that flash of red - a masterful stroke. Love the way you brought more than one element into your design. Hilary

  7. What an incredible library and well done for interpreting it as you have. I really like it and see something different each time I look at it - sometimes the image you are referencing, sometimes the Pixar light and sometimes a rocket heading into space!
