Incendiary
I have to start by admitting that I no longer have this piece. When SAQA put out a call for 7" x 10" entries to its 25th anniversary travelling trunk show, I made what came naturally to me: a red piece. When I showed it to fellow 12btd members in Montreal, they said, but it's RED! So although it is a tiny bit smaller than "regulation" size, it is definitely the right colour, and speaks straight from my heart.

Gorgeous as normal, and the colour is perfect.
ReplyDeleteLove this piece and especially the lack of straight edges.
ReplyDeleteGreat collection of reds in there, Helena. Good interpretation of the word 'incendiary'.

Perfect colour theme for you. Lovely. I hope you're able to post your commission piece.
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane. I will post the commission after the flurry of activity over the challenge has ended.
ReplyDeleteI love it when Helena gets onto a red challenge. While you are posting the commission, please also post the large beautiful red piece that you have just finished with the yellow burst. Stunning!
ReplyDeletewell - it was actually me who said - 'that is for the 12bythedozen challenge,' because it was a very obvious beautiful choice. you are a master of this technique helena. well done!
ReplyDeleteYour 'explosions' are similar but all so very different. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThere is a softness to some of your pinky-reds that really adds to the piece. A beautiful transition of colour!
ReplyDeleteThis piece speaks to me on many different levels - I absolutely love the different reds you have used as well as how you have 'composed' the whole piece to fit together so beautifully. It is stunning and as Phil said - an extremely interesting edge if you had blocked it off it would have lost it's magic.
