The group blog of four quiltmakers and textile artists scattered around the world in 4 countries and across three continents.
Our aim is to create a small quilt every three months.
The theme is chosen by the members in turn.
Our website is: www.12bythedozen.weebly.com
Hello All. Thanks for allowing me to contribute to this theme. I really enjoyed having someone spark off the creative challenge in me to actually get up and make something which I haven't done in a while. (I may actually now start to be a little more creative from now on.)
I've written quite a long explanation of my thinking behind this piece up on my Flickr photostream (http://www.flickr.com/photos/murrayzn/) but the short version is that it's based on Red Riding Hood and the verse of Isaiah 1:18 which reads:
"Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool."
Thanks again for allowing me to participate and hopefully I can do so again soon. Although my chosen field of design is somewhat different from what gets created here... it really isn't at all if one thinks about it - and I am continually seeing things in my mom's (Phil) work and on this blog that inspires me to use elements of what you all create in my own digital creations, thus giving me something new and unique that stands out from what every else in the design world is making.
I've now had a good look at your piece (is it also 12"square?) and I like the depth that you've given with the "pieced" background. I also like the way that you've wrapped the word crimson around her- like a blanket? She's very defiant - and that suits me!
