Ah! Dianne beat me to it. I too am interested to know which building the pillars were in where you found these symbols as I am curious to know what they might symbolise. Love the warmth exuding from your fine work - much needed here in Lismore today which is very very wet and only 16 degrees after experiencing a dry hot stretch of around 33 degree days and 22 degree nights!
There could also be a little improvisation Amanda! I did this piece right at the beginning of these last 3 months and I have done heaps of sewing since . However I would have looked closely at pillars from various temples before selecting designs from them to put on my piece .
Such a striking piece, Rosemary. Strong lines and beautifully chosen colours. I, too, was drawn to the markings found on the surfaces of buildings. The lines in your designs leave you with the impression of a tall imposing 'monolithic' piece of architecture. Stunning quilting. Hilary
I absolutely love the way you have used the designs from pillars so effectively and made them your own. Your colours are wonderful and brings light into your design. I always look at your quilting which is beautiful, so well done on a really well constructed piece..
A stunning piece. Just love everything about it, composition, colours, quilting.
ReplyDeleteI agree, stunning! The ombre fabric in the background works fantastically, and the quilting is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWere the lines couched on??
ReplyDeleteNo Linda . I simply used a triple stitch on my machine in a lighter colour
DeleteA beautiful composition and beautiful quilting! What monolithic building inspired you?
ReplyDeleteParticularly the temple at Petra but many of the temples have pillars with lines or images cut into them.
