Lauma's Salad

This piece was inspired by a salad that Lauma made that had spinach, yellow beets, cranberries and almonds.  Unfortunately if I had thought of it at the time I would have taken a picture of the salad itself!

It's all "glued" down and stitched.  But I am thinking that it might translate into a much larger piece.  The yellow fabric was created with fabric paints.  I just kept wetting and painting until I thought I had the right colour.

  1. I really think this is one of my favourite of your works, ever, Dianne. Love the rich colours you have chosen. Abstract images may be your forte!

  2. Strong lines and a great choice of colours. The turquoise cross sings out. Did you play with the position of the cross (the focal point)?

I agree with Heather that the abstract pieces you have produced recently have been strong. But I also think you have a talent with landscapes.

  3. I really like your design and agree it could be worked into a bigger piece which would be absolutely stunningly interesting. Your use of colour just speaks to me and I think it is a really good piece of abstract art.

  5. There is an illusion of depth from the neutral against such saturation and that kind of blue always adds zing with apricot yellow.I love how this turned out Dianne!

  9. I agree Dianne, one of your best! Love the colours and the composition. Even though the brighter blue cross is very central it really seems to work!
