Helena featured artist at Quebec Provincial Quilt show

Since you mentioned that it has been quiet on the blog, Hilary, I figured it was a good chance to blow my own horn. I was very honoured to be asked to be the guest artist at the biennial provincial show. Here are some (not very clear) photos that Marion took when we set up last weekend. I will be there this weekend to give 2 artist gallery talks and will try to take more photos of the final set-up and people gathered round.

  1. What a great display, Helena! So nice for you to get this kind of recognition in a provincial show.

  2. Looking forward to seeing your display and the show on Sunday.

  3. Congratulations on being invited, Helena. I'm glad you are blowing your horn - well deserved.

I am curious about the hanging system. It looks so like a system I thought I had 'invented' some years back using a strip of webbing with loops sewn for the rods at regular intervals. We then improved it to be two strips of webbing with stitch lines sewn across at regular intervals so we could slip any size rod/batten in between the two webbing strips. We (Contemporary Quilt) have been using 'my' system for many years now. It works equally well for small Journal quilts and large quilts.

  4. Sharp eyes Hilary! This is your system! you explained how you did it a few years ago and we made a lot of the straps for our Beaconsfield quilt show and then have them to the provincial association.
