Dem Bones

What can I say, "Dem Bones, ain't what they used to be". Seems that self portraits were talked about the last few months and I just couldn't get past the few aches and pains that are haunting me.  I experimented with sewing a fancy stitch on the binding, tried to solve the puckering with an interfacing to stabilize it and that didn't work any better. Perhaps a walking foot would have helped, any other suggestions?

  2. Looks like your skeleton was eager to come out of the closet, Colleen! Did you stitch the paper into position on the cloth?

  4. Colleen, I sympathize with the struggle to sew a fancy stitch on the binding. I tried a couple of times and gave up. Is your binding on the bias or straight grain (I only use straight grain these days)? I found in the end the only fancy stitches that work are ones that are stitched off the binding and have little stitches that catch the edge of the binding - like the blind hem stitch for example.

Pardon me but dem bones seem to be pretty agile dancing! Fun.

  9. I like it. Such fun, I feel the skeleton has gone to the disco and is just enjoying herself! I agree with the problems of fancy stitches, I've virtually given up even trying to use them.
