MY WAY !!

A popular exclamation in South Africa is 'Eish!' and that is how I felt with this challenge. I found her work strangely interesting but nothing jumped out at me initially.  After staring at an array of her work I had a light bulb moment and all I could see was the forever popular pics of our iconic Table Mountain in Cape Town taken from across the bay from Bloubergstrand beach.

 There are two pics that probably sent me down this route and they are ......



I have very loosely based my subject matter on the shape of Table Mountain but I have allowed the quilting to flow as it dictated hence the title 'My Way".


The whole cloth was dyed and then I went in with Derwent blocks/pencils.
This piece is quite simplistic for me however I did enjoy doing it.

    Well done - your inspiration was spot on and I like the way you have quilted the lines. I also liked a couple of her pieces on the same subject. Very clever to use Table Mountain as your point of interest. I really like it.

    I'm sorry to have caused you an 'Eish!' moment but the end result is very effective. You've re-created W B-G's use of line and added a personal element - couldn't ask for anything more.

    Amazing that you saw Table Mountain in the WB-G piece which inspired you . Brilliant . Again the line work , which a lot of her work is based on, is emphasised in your background . I really like this piece

    I, too, love the piece - recognized Table Mountain right away. And I like how you have put the lights of the town at the foot. And your quilting lines are very effective.

    So clever and so recognisable. A wonderful personal twist to her style. Your piece has a serene feel to it. Love those dots of the city in the distance. H
