Elevations

This started with a pieced of beautiful textured silk that I ice dyed and then stitched with multiple colours of thread, including our "turquoise".

  1. Just when you think you have people pigeon-holed they send all your preconceptions out the window. Very abstract, Helena. Makes me think of an aerial photograph. Beautiful piece of fabric - brave you for ice-dyeing it!

  2. What a gift to work with. Love the colours and I agree with Hilary it has the look of an aerial shot.

  3. Fascinating texture, and very successful ice dyeing. A lovely piece I fell like I want to hold and caress.

  4. A contour map, yes, but I can also see that the quilting suggests a floral theme, no? Love the way you use salvaged table linens, etc., for some of your backgrounds.

  5. It almost belongs in Chris Hadfield's new book: You Are Here: Around the World in 92 Minutes.
You really are good with how you intuitively quilt and this is another great example.
