RAIN, RAIN GO AWAY
When I first saw the colour, and after printing it out, there were quite a few variations of grey in the sample. Nevertheless, I was feeling very daunted by the challenge as I don't usually work in grey and am definitately a person who loves bright colours - so I guess the answer is 'combine the two'. This is a very simple piece with no special techniques but the more I worked on it the more another idea came into my head. We have a challenge which is to be revealed in November within our local quilt art group. We have to choose a song title and work around that - watch this space and when the reveal is over I will post it up for you. It is much bigger, with a lot more interest. Therefore, on two fronts this has been a great challenge, and fun too!
I love the contrast! And I like the stripey effect of your grey skies. And look forward to seeing the bigger version.
ReplyDeleteNothing like a grey background to make those bright prints really pop. Great fun!
ReplyDeleteA great example to show how striking 'simple' can be. The umbrellas sing. Great that the grey has provided the inspiration for the other challenge - looking forward to seeing the other piece.

The greys really make this piece work. Great colour!!. Would your song for the next piece be singin' in the rain?
ReplyDeleteNo, my title for the other quilt isn't Singing in the Rain, although that would have also worked very well but it is something else. All will be revealed at the end of November!
DeleteGreat result. I agree the grey background help the colourful umbrellas pop.
ReplyDeleteLove it! The others have said it all.
ReplyDeleteNothing I can add, I love the fabrics you've used for the umbrellas
ReplyDeleteUmberellas as colourful as that will brighten up any rainy day! I love bright colours and like the way their colour is heightened by the contrast with the greys.
ReplyDeleteAhh Patricia you beat me to it, I've wanted to do an umbrella piece. Grey, was certainly the opportunity and you did it well. I like the pools of rain on the ground.
