VORTEX

I found this very challenging indeed and had no idea how to proceed until I decided to gather the fabrics that I needed and then draw a design which freed me up in my thinking.  I loved the colour but until I had something on paper I was stuck!  Once I started to put it altogether the name just came to me and from then on I started to enjoy the whole exercise.  It was fun and did not take long to get it finished, but there was lots of angst before it started to come together.  A really enjoyable challenge and I hope you like the next colour which will be revealed later on today - just thought I should get this up first!

  1. Patricia is this your first or second piece? I do love your use of colours and the different quilting designs. They add wonderful texture and movement. Great piece.

  3. Lots of energy here, and I like how you have used the shapes to make a "sampler" of quilting designs.

  4. Beautiful flowing design. I love curves and I like the way you have kept the lines flowing even though they are broken (left hand side).

As Heather said - I like the way you have incorporated a sampler of quilting designs.

  5. Great quilting and I like the way the grid adds another dimension to it. and it does look like you had fun with it.

  6. It's amazing how things come together - eventually. Your grid is fascinating - is it bonded?

    1. I drew the lines for the grid and then cut the pieces which I bonded onto the background. It was very time consuming as each piece had to be sitiched seperately onto the background, but it worked well and was fun, expecially when one sees it all come together.

  7. I also love all the quilting designs. I wish the curved grid background had continued around on the bottom corner to anchor it to the bottom a bit more. Lovely piece!

    1. On looking at it Michele I have to agree with you regarding the grid coming around the base to anchor it to the bottom of the piece. When I started with the drawing the swirls went all around the piece which didn't work that well and then when I put the grid in place it worked so well I didn't think further than getting it together. Thanks for that - it was good to get that from you ... very constructive.

  8. A lovely piece, especially the grid, though I am inclined to agree with Michele. I do love pieces where you can try out quilting stitches, and don't have to keep them all the same.
