Dreamscape inspired by Derric Van Rensburg
As Hilary explained yesterday, this is my last posting as a member of 12 by the Dozen. It has been a wonderful adventure from the very start of the group, and it has been a joy (for the most part!), especially the opportunity to meet as a group in Birmingham a few years ago, and to spend time together in Shropshire. I feel that I can't devote enough time and energy to the group now, as I feel under the gun to prepare work for a solo show next year. And I have also started an intensive yoga teacher training program which I love! I may not become a teacher, but I am certainly learning a lot. And that is my intention.
So I wish you all well and will certainly keep a close eye on developments in the future as you all strive to interpret new architectural challenges. All the very best, Helena

A powerful burst of all the colours used by Derric, A lovely finale from you showing off your great skill in playing with colour. You will be missed but it was a privilege meeting you at Birmingham and when I see sketched sandals/shoes I always think of you. Please keep in touch and all the very best for your solo exhibition.
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil! I have such fond memories of hanging out with you and sketching in the garden! I'm still creating lots of shoes. I hope our paths cross again.
DeleteLovely as ever. I shall miss you as a member of this group - do stay in touch. I've know I've not been around much in the last couple of years due to our move, but the extension is now being built, and there is always a bed for you (and any other members of the group) here if you happen to be visiting the UK at any point. Good luck with your solo show.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda. I will definitely drop in if I visit the UK! I'd love to see what you have done to your place.
DeleteWe will miss you Helena and I wish you all the best in your new ventures, both of which sound exciting. You always manage to connect the artist's work with a perfect colour palette so beautifully. A lovely but different take on this artist, which makes all our work so different and interesting.
ReplyDeleteThank you Patricia!
DeleteI loved this painting of Derrics and thought the colours magnificent . With your love of colour blending it was made for your interpretation. Your colour combinations are, as always ,very interesting and reflective of the piece you chose to build your art around . All the best for the future and do keep in touch .
ReplyDeleteThanks Rosemary!
DeleteNicely interpreted Helena. I'll look forward to your show!
ReplyDeleteLovely interpretation of Derrics painting. Wishing you all the best for the future, do post lots pictures of your exhibition on your website.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mai-Britt! I will!
DeleteAll the best for your solo exhibition and the yoga course too. I love your interpretation of the artist, the way you blend all your fabrics. I like looking close up too at all the small pieces too: I could lose myself in all that scrumptious colour.
ReplyDeleteWay to go, Helena. A signature piece that has all the colours of your chosen inspiration art work. I think he would approve. Hilary
