Lines

Inspired by a photograph by Etienne Dayer on Unsplash, this quilt depicts washing lines strung between buildings in a narrow city alley. Architectural lines draw the eye into the distance, while hanging clothes connect the buildings and suggest everyday life.

Using Reverse reduction appliqué, layers of navy, slate blue, terracotta, yellow and cream create bold shapes, outlined by stitching and softly frayed edges. A colourful patterned border frames the scene.

The quilt explores “Lines” through architecture, washing lines and stitch.

NEW CHALLENGE

As it is Rosemary's turn to choose the next challenge she has asked me to put the following up for her.

The new challenge is to choose 'A WORD' .  It could be anything e.g. trees, a flower, an artists work that inspires you to draw your inspiration from, a bird, seascape, landscape, a book title etc whatever you feel you would like to create an art quilt around.  In fact anything that gives us something we can enjoy creating and that gives us pleasure.
