Canadian Parliament

I like the halo appearance in one of Charles Sheeler paintings, the buildings were outlined in a contrasting colour. This approach wasn't successful for me.  In light of the world politics this year, not to name anything specifically, I am feeling patriotic. My personal challenge was to work in an analogous colour theme.

  1. I like what you have done. The simplicity but boldness of values of colour work. Not sure how it appears on others screens but at first when looking I thought maybe the 'halo' hues were a tad pink but in fact I like it.

  2. The strong hues of pink combined with a strong architetchural form definitely invokes the inspiration of Charles Sheeler. Well done!!

  3. You have approached his style really well and the colours do work together in harmony. Well done on capturing the graphics he used in most of his work. Very brave of you to use the colours you used but they work well together.

  4. Well done Colleen! It reminds me of Sheeler's red painting that I almost used as my inspiration. Love your Canadian slant on his work and great job using the analogous colour scheme.

  6. A Canadian piece eh? Also a double duty? for the guild challenge?

Well done though - I like the lines above the parliament buildings. Is Trudeau still basking in his "all is love " phase!

    1. Here I was thinking you were so clever doing a double duty and didn't realize I had too!

  7. Very dramatic, and I recognised it as your work before I even read your name! I know I can't work with pink like that - well done on pulling it off. Good time to be patriotic!

  8. Very brave to have used these analogous colours ! Thinking outside the box is not something I can easily do so I commend you . With that you have managed to fully express the Sheeler graphic style -a great achievement

  9. I am always impressed when others are brave (confident?) enough to break the mould and do something totally different. I wouldn't have had the courage to do this piece, Colleen, but you have pulled it off! Nice one.
