Step(ping) Stones Across a River
I have managed to get my picture up amazingly as we have been without internet for the past week due to the fact that we had a massive electrical storm last week and our server was struck by lightning. I trust this get to you all.
I had fun with this one as I did not want to do an Urban Scene and wanted to do something different. I had some inspiration and had fun with this using painted Tyvek for the boulder/stones and thread painting for the vegetation.

Great use of stitching, Patricia, and I love the batik that suggests the vegetation.
ReplyDeleteI like your stones! Very 3 dimensional, and you've done well to make the water swirl around them - I feel as though I'm standing on the river bank watching.
ReplyDeletegreat use of stitching, fabric and tyvek. great composition
ReplyDeleteGreat piece, Patricia, you have captured the moment beautifully.
ReplyDeleteWonderful sense of movement in this piece Patricia
ReplyDeleteTyvek sounds fun. Did you use inks or paints? I love the greenish gray stones on this side of the stream as well and the vegetation. Fun!
ReplyDeleteAh yes, stepping stones. This little piece brings back many happy memories of stepping stones across the streams in the Drakensberg. Love the way you interpreted each section.

You have so many special details that have to be seen close-up: from the quilting design to the cording to the piecing that give the water movement. Tyvek is a favorite of mine for creating a 3D effect.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely piece, especially close up. Your stitching is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun - I'd never have thought of this! Worthy of a closer look for the stitching alone!
