Next Step?

What is my next step after Galerie Ouest? Who knows? This piece depicts my beloved gallery in the summer, window boxes in full bloom. The image is printed onto cotton, ironed onto freezer paper, then machine quilted. The flowers are hand embroidered and the gallery banners are painted with Tsukineko ink.

  1. There is a vintage look to this piece, Helena, rather like an old hand-tinted photo. It very much evokes a feeling of "the past".

  3. I agree with Heather, I immediately saw a vintage look to the piece, a thing of the past but as you say 'what next?' Great memories and will be missed by all who benefited.

  6. Although I never got to see Galerie Ouest, your piece portrays the ingenuity and creativity for giving artists a "step up" and a place to display their work. What a wonderful way of immortalizing a great idea and a great memory!

  7. What a lovely way to remember the gallerie. To choose to take the colour out and to just put it back in the signs and flowers is a stroke of genious.

  8. This brings back happy memories for me, and I'm sure it does for everyone lucky enough to have visited or displayed at your gallery. Good luck with your next 'step'.

  9. I agree with all that has been said - I like the monochrome and faded look with just the touch of colour. I am sure your next 'step' will be just as exciting and challenging and I wish you all good wishes and you 'step' forward into future projects, whatever the may be or whereever they may take you. I think you have captured a very special memory in a very special way.
