Durban has quite a few beautiful Art Deco Buildings. I was inspired by one that has these huge birds on top. Summer on its way is the inspiration for the inclusion of the sun. I started with a quilted background and then added appliqued tulle and shiny gold fabric.
These wings are as majestic as they are on the building. The sun rising over the sea and the buildings marries the two together. Love it.

ReplyDeleteLove this Beth. Every part of your design really stands out against the background. Excellent idea to quilt the background first as that would have been a real mission to do otherwise. The sun idea certainly heralds summer in our part of the world. Well done its lovely.
