THE WHITE ROSE MOSQUE OF TIRANA

I have taken my inspiration from a mosque that is only in draft form and it has been designed by architects who have a blog called arcfly.blogspot.com.

Their intro starts.....Tirana needs a new mosque, not only for the Muslim Community and not only to meet the needs of a growing number of Muslim citizens who are served today by a modest network of mosques.

The background is made up of a wonderful piece of fabric made by Heide Stoll-webe and grey fabric. The mosque is machine applique. The piece is then enhanced with paints and free motion quilting.

  1. What a great find - and so beautifully interpreted and executed. Beautiful shapes and lines and great choice of fabric. Love the inclusion of the background buildings - it anchors the mosque in a landscape. H

  3. Wow, both to your piece and the architects themselves. Both pieces make me think of a rose unfolding. A lovely interpretation of their design - I hope they get to build it one day.

  5. I love the sky fabric, and the contrast between the sky and the mosque.

  6. Love it! Did you paint the background buildings on to the fabric? A very effective addition.

    1. Yes they are painted with a paint that is not for fabric (it escapes me for the moment) hence the effect which surprised me.

  7. A beautiful interpretation of the design. I like the buildings in the background and I also like the fabric you chose for the sky. It all works well together.
