Sammensætning

I couldn’t make my mind up on which painting to choose as my inspiration, when low and behold, I found my solution in a danish television program. I was watching a program about the daily life in an auction house and one expert was sent to a private home to value a modern painting. And, yes you guessed it; it was a Lundstrøm, never before seen by other than friends and family. It had been bought in the sixties, straight from Lundstrøm and arrived in the house with the paint still wet! That got me very excited and I hurried to take a screen print for reference - long live the iPad.

Inspiration

Background quilted
First I added layers of of textured bits, then I quilted the piece.

Gesso applied
Then I added a layer of gesso with a heavy hand, and acrylic paint with a very light hand.

Sammensætning

The motives was fused and apliqued with black thread. I am very pleased with the result, it will not be the last time I use this technique, great fun!

  4. I love how you've created the texture in the background. It's very effective and sets off the jugs beautifully. You must have been delighted to see this piece.

  5. Thank you for sharing the process which you used for this piece . You produced a very different background and it sounds as if it was fun to do . I wonder how many more of his works are hidden away from the public eye waiting to give great inspiration to others . I enjoyed the colours which this work had and which you chose for your piece

  6. Like me you were able to try out a new technique . It's so effective. Love the textured background and how it plays to the applique. Must try it myself.

  7. I like your interpretation, the way you have taken it, tried a new technique and produced something original. Was it difficult sewing the appliqué after you had gessoed the piece?

  8. Lucky you to have found one of his paintings that have been hidden for so long. I really loved your background and your technique which set off the appliqued pieces so well. The tetured background contrasted so well with your acrylic painting. I have learned so much from everyone in this challenge, as there are so many variations and techniques one can use that are different and really effective. Thank you so much - great piece.
