Dianne at WASM show with her two SOLD pieces |
Heather at WASM show with her two pieces |
Last report from Dianne: Both of her pieces have SOLD and at end of day yesterday they were the only two pieces to sell in the whole show. Her colourful study of birches was purchased by the organizers as a thank you gift for the honorary speaker, Monique Polak, an author and teacher of creative writing. This is especially appropriate as Dianne used text on paper as the bark of the trees.
The show runs two more days so possibly we'll see more sales before closing.
We were two of several fibre artists on show, Meta MacLean being the third. A fourth made an assemblage of a 3-D modelled fabric dress on a background of cast paper. Another artist in the group, Deanne Hall Habeeb, does fabric collage but showed a painting this time around.
A four-minute news clip about the show is available from Global News.
Way to go Dianne! Congratulations! Who bought the other piece? What great photos of both of you.
ReplyDeleteWhoopee - Happy Dance for you girls. Especially you, Dianne. Serious, serious congratulations - you must be walking on cloud 9. You girls are making history.
ReplyDeleteI watched the new clip - shame on them a) for not crediting the artists, b) for showing some clips sideways and c) for showing images with taps in the background. Tut, tut!
Would love to be there with you all...
Hilary
Fantastic. Well done to both of you, but especially Dianne. So nice to see art work sold. I enjoyed the news clip, but I agree with Hilary, the work was not well presented.
ReplyDeletejust came back from ogilvy's. our girls did us proud for sure!! your pieces showed well and were certainly 'up there' with a good few others who created exciting pieces of work. the variety stretched over a large range, the standard high for the most with some quirky, interesting pieces as well. all in all it was well worthwhile the visit. and of course i was so chuffed to see heather's and dianne's pieces. well done to you two!

ReplyDeleteWe are fortunate to get so much satisfaction from creating art in hopes that others enjoy...but the feeling that someone wants that piece exclusively in their art collection by purchasing it is one of the best feelings of being an artist! Congratulations, Dianne! Wahoo!
ReplyDeleteAlso loved seeing the pictures of the two of you with your work...so thrilled for both of you!
