I had taken a picture of the shells left of the Seville oranges which had been boiled, the flesh scraped out, and just jumbled in a bowl awaiting slicing. I liked the light on the oranges and kept thinking of how Mary used ordinary, day to day images. I did chicken out trying to paint a clear glass bowl though. But I did paint it using my Cretacolors, because she was a painter.

Marmalade
Sorry for the delay in getting this done. Especially since Mary was my suggestion.

I like the simplicity of your design and the colours which you used . I would also have chickened out of trying to get a glass bowl done in fabric . We shall have to get Hilary to expand on her technique.

DeleteOh well done Dianne, worth the wait. I also shied away from glass!
ReplyDeleteGreat job Dianne! You have captured the essence of the oranges, the light, the granite countertop. Good Mary-inspired subject too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great choice of subject matter. I don't blame you for shying away from the glass - I made mistakes and caused all sorts of problems for myself doing it. There were many times when I wished I had done as you did - created a ceramic bowl! Love your choice of fabrics. Bravo. Hilary
ReplyDeleteIt's a whole cloth piece Hilary. Entirely painted.
DeleteNo! Even the blue stripes? Hats off to you. I would never have guessed. Hilary
ReplyDeleteDianne - I love your oranges - and I bet Mary Pratt would think attempting to create her work in fabric would be too difficult! SO well done to you.
ReplyDeletegood job of the oranges Dianne.I definitely din't want to try out the glassware of Mary but perhaps one could have got it correct with organza - one of my favourite fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI echo the comments of the others - lovely work Dianne.
