Helena on Green

This was a two-for-one challenge. First, this is my most favourite of all greens and I just love to work with it. Thank you Heather! Second, I used the opportunity to create a self-portrait for our guild's self portrait challenge, due tomorrow. So perfect timing! This portrait is based on a photo taken at my daughter's wedding two years ago. My two daughters and their two babies (one each) are visiting at the moment, so I forgot to post until I checked my email. And now for your viewing pleasure, Oscar, age 11 months, who just happens to be wearing our green this morning.

  1. Great self-portrait! And you did well with the fabric for your glasses. You must be having a wonderful time with the 2 babies and your 2 girls!

  2. A brilliant self-portrait, though by rights the background should have been red, as that is your "bestest" colour. I'm sure it will be a stand-out at what promises to be a very fun guild challenge.

  3. The green colour with black and white really lends a retro feel in addition to the glasses and texture in the background. Well done! I bet you are having a ball with everyone. Thinking of you!! XO

  4. I like this and agree that the glasses fabric is just perfect. Oscar is adorable too.

  5. I'm in awe of your self-portrait, all down to your fabric choice I suspect.
And aren't grand children just the best thing?

  6. Thanks everyone. PS the photo doesn't show that there is mylar in the glasses so they look really real. And my glasses really are checked!

  7. Love this - such a good self portrait, and it really does have that retro air that Michele mentioned. Glad Oscar is also wearing our colour, but he does look a bit worried about having his photo taken. Enjoy the company of your girls and grandchildren!

  8. Ha ha - I was going to ask if your glasses really were checked. Because if they weren't I would suggest you went out and got some!. Portraits are not easy but you have pulled this off with style, Helena. I would have recognised you straight away.

  9. I have never had the courage to do a self portrait but it looks so effortless the way you have done yours, right down to the smallest detail. Well done. Enjoy your grandchildren - they grow up so quickly so this is a special time for you.

  10. I am with Patricia ... I have never been brave enough also although it is down on my list of to do's. Well done. I am coming up the rear with comments this time because I also have a nearly 11 month old munchkin who I have had to (no arm twisting needed !) help with over the last couple of days and phones have to be put on silence and hidden so I have been 'off-line'.
