For some reason, the photo didn't appear when I posted this the last time, so here it is again.
As soon as the theme was announced, I had this image in my head (so did Hilary apparently! Great minds think alike). The background is made of small collaged pieces of fabric, covered with tulle. The lettuce is bobbin-stitched with heavy thread from the back.
How good to have two quilts using the same idea and with completely different interpretations. Love the idea of bobbin thread as that allows you to be guided by an outline and gives a really nice solid line on top. Nice one.

Such differnt interpretations of the same subject and both so effective. I love your thread drawing.
ReplyDeleteThe large variety of texture and values of your green fabrics really "pulls" me into your piece. By creating a transparent overlay using thread painting you have communicated the theme wonderfully. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI can taste the crunchy goodness, Helena!
ReplyDeleteLove your interpretation. Very organic looking.
ReplyDeletei love how you have combined the tulle with bits of carefully chosen green fabric. clever to have done bobbin work! munch munch! a great piece
ReplyDeleteI always love your colour blending Helena. Bobbin work is really a good trick and so effective. Just planted my lettuce today.
