Weeping Willow

In 2007 my UK family took me to visit Normandy in France.  We stayed in a lovely house near a small village (the name eludes me now) and at the side of their garden was a small river and Willow trees.  It was a magical time we spend there and brings back many wonderful memories.  I thought I would try and capture those memories in my piece.  It took quite a long time to put together but I really enjoyed the process.

  1. This was well worth the trouble you went to in order to create this lovely willow tree. It has a wonderfully restful feel to it . Doing each leaf and using different colour fabrics would test anyones patience and endurance but what a lovely result.

  2. Wow, all those small pieces. Kudos to you as the result is beautiful. I can see the water dragging those branch ends as they touch. A hint of Monet. Well done.

  3. It makes me think of Monet's garden at Giverny. A lovely reminder of your holiday.

  4. This has to have been Giverny. And it absolutely captures the essence of his garden and paintings. Super. Love the way you have created Monet's way of building up colours with dabs. Lovely piece. Hilary
