The group blog of four quiltmakers and textile artists scattered around the world in 4 countries and across three continents.
Our aim is to create a small quilt every three months.
The theme is chosen by the members in turn.

I like the way you've incorporated the staircase into the other shapes and colours. The yellow area seems to stand out relative to the rest of the piece - was that intended? In my imagination I can imagine walking up the stairs, being very careful not to fall off at the top!
How strange that you don't rate this piece, Rosemary. It is another of your signature interpretations with such strong lines and colours. Lovely balance between curves and straight lines - all abstracted out of the staircase picture. And the quilting! Hilary
I'm not sure that I could produce such an elegant piece from subject matter that didn't inspire me. Perhaps you could deconstruct it for our next challenge!
If, as you say, this piece did not inspire you, I think it is a really good design and as Hilary said - the curves and straight lines were so well done and incorporated into your design you should be proud. Your colours are great and I think everything works so very well in your piece. As always your quilting inspires me. Well done.
Great interpretation of the winding staircase even if you are not happy with it. As Hilary says your clever use of bold colours and beautiful quilting.
I started with this staircase as I love it so much but got sidetracked. It is masterfully rendered here! I love the lines of the staircase and it heading in to the light. Was there any significance to your colour choices? Looking forward to seeing it (and you) after look down!
Well done for making such a strong piece from something that didn't inspire you. We often surprise ourselves when out of our comfort zone, I hope you are pleased with the result, now that you have lived with it for awhile.

ReplyDeleteGreat interpretation of the staircase even if not your favourite piece. Once again love your use of strong colours and beautiful quilting.
ReplyDeleteyes, the strong yellow is my favourite part in this work. It's like walking towards the light ahead! Love it.
