DOODLING

I found this colour very difficult to give me something different to work with other than foliage or similar so I decided to do some 'doodling' on top of a whole cloth of a slightly cleaner version of the colour (I thought the black may have played more of a part than it did).  I doodled / stitched/ painted & bound.  Sorry Hilary I could not resist using my dot easy tool ! A bit of fun.

  1. Very striking and I think it has potential for something bigger. Isn't it fun using the tool?! Being picky, I'm not sure I would have used that binding...

    1. Trust me the binding is better in reality but I battled to find something suitable and this was the 'best' of what I had so it was used.

  2. My doodles never end up that organised! The black has really made the green look yellowish - isn't it an interesting colour. Do love the idea of stitching, then painting.

  3. Wowza! Love those tiny dots. Your use of small, medium and large shapes is very effective.

  4. I like your design. I've never had the courage to paint (inside the lines) after I've quilted.

  5. I need a lesson is your bravery to go for such high contrast. That is a show stopper!

  6. I love the contrast between the black and green. I think black really makes colours sing. I love the motif too

  7. This piece really surprised me because of its' formality, but it works really well because of the changes in scale that Heather mentioned.

  9. Really like the design and it looks as if it took you ages to get done so perfectly. The contrast in colour makes it a stunning piece.

    1. It actually took minimal time to put together once I had drawn it out. The painting in the lines can be daunting initially, for those who commented, but once you have tried it it is not that bad and certainly a lot easier than painting and then trying to stitch around.

  10. I echo all these comments. I think this would really meet the definition of a miniature quilt. It looks like a huge monumental quilt scaled down. Bravo!
