FIRE AND ICE

This was my entry at the Festival of Quilts held last week in the Durban area.  Wonderful time was had by all and I was so thrilled to catch up with Hilary and Phil.

Hilary persuaded me to put my entry onto the blog and although I did not win anything it was a fun experience.  Saw some magnificent work and can't believe the talent that we have here in South Africa.

  1. Congratulations, Patricia, on the showing of your striking quilt at the Festival. What fun you, Hilary and Phil must have had! I only wish I could have been there with you all.

We five Montreal-based members (plus our friend Lauma Cenne) just spent a few days at Dianne's cottage for our annual retreat. Nothing like some downtime with like-minded friends, good food and good conversation, to create special memories.

  3. I really like what you've done. What are the dimensions? Will the quilts be posted on the SA guild website? If so, perhaps you could send us the link.

It was great for you to get together with Hilary and Phil. Was your sister there also?

    1. Yes my sister was there with me. We flew down to Durban from Johannesburg and had a wonderful time together. Sadly she left today to head back to New Zealand - so far away but we skype often and show each other what we are working on. She is also an avid and very creative quilter although our work is so very different which makes it such fun to share our work with each other. I will get the link to the Saouth African Quilters Guild and send it to you, but you can also google it and go into South African Quilters Guild web page.

  5. Lovely piece, I'm glad you put it into the show. I'd love to see a SA show one day.

  6. Patricia, I really loved this piece at Festival. To me it captured the counter-play between the hot curvy lines of the flames and the icy cold spikes. I hope you got a good crit from the judges as I think it deserved it.
