THE GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FENCE ...

I too thought of vegetation when I started to think about what to do with the green challenge, so decided to do a landscape and then the title jumped out at me.  I had fun with it although am not happy with the edging.  I had completed the piece and left the binding/edging to the last minute and did not have time to change it.  If I had bound it with a solid colour I think it would have been too heavy so have left it as it is.  This is in celebration of the first day of spring tomorrow.  As I am writing this there are new leaves and buds sprouting on our trees in the garden so this was an appropriate choice for me although I started it when the weather was much colder than it is now.

  1. Love it, Patricia. Reminds me of those long dusty journeys we made into the Berg for our holidays at the game camps. Those distant purple mountains the promise of what was to come. No electricity, no boundaries - just miles and miles of countryside to explore and play in.

  2. I love that little row of trees on the crest in the distance, the ghostly grasses, the way you have repeated the purple of the mountains in the gate, and the rhythms of verticals and horizontals. So much to appreciate here.

  5. I love that this piece marks the start of your spring season, just as our nights are beginning to draw in and I wish they weren't. The grass truly is greener - on the other side of the world!

  6. I have to agree with Linda B. A reminder that we are drawing towards winter. A delightful piece to look at, and I like the cobblestone road and how you didn't put the circles everywhere.

  8. Your pieces always amaze me that you get scale and perspective no matter what size you are creating...the fence, the trees, the horizon...so much to accomplish in a small quilt and you do it beautifully!
