Struggling ...

I'm not keen on green, I don't garden with enthusiasm and I've nothing green in my wardrobe but I'm up for a challenge - or at least I thought I was. I explored all sorts of ideas, and came back to that greenest of objects, the leaf. I do like leaves so I thought that I'd try something stylised. Before going off to FOQ, (Great to meet Dianne and Heather and hope you're both safely back home by now.) I made some rough leaf shapes but now I'm wondering what I was thinking about, I can't make anything of these at all! Back to the drawing board I'm afraid.

  1. Hi Linda B! So nice to meet up with you last week at the Festival of Quilts!

Have you had a look at the Dream Collections on the SAQA site, in the run-up to their annual auction of donated art quilts? There are several delicious collections based on Green that might prove to be inspirational.

  2. It is a difficult colour and particularly where I live as we are 'green' all year round. I associate green as a backdrop not as a focal point. It meant a whole identity shift for me. I finally went thru all my photos (100's) and voila I found something.

  3. Hate to tell you but mine is finished and ready to publish. Of course it is one of my favourite colours so not too challenging.

  4. Heather - thanks for the link, I'll take a look in a minute, but in pondering why I struggle with green an idea has popped up, which may or may not work.

Is that two of us finished? You can go off people you know!

  5. You're right, Phil, green is all around us and always has been. But I don't see that as a problem with this challenge. The green can still be a background colour to an amazing contrast 'something'... Green doesn't have to be the focus.

I love what you have pulled out there, Linda B. It looks exotic and tropical. Hope that sudden thought has been your muse whispering to you.

Heather, I love the green Dream collection that Denise Miller puller together.
