I subscribe to a twice-weekly e-mail bulletin from Robert Genn. In this morning's text, he discusses colour acuity in men and women, and refers readers to an on-line test at
www.xrite.com/custom_page.aspx?PageID=77&Lang=en
Women generally score higher on the test. You might find it fun to try and see how you compare to others of your gender and age group. I'm willing to bet that the people who do better on the test are also likely to find the experience more fun, though I would need funding to conduct a full study.
Funnily enough I got a link to the same test this morning, but from a different source. I scored 7 (zero is the best score) and found it very interesting. I've always had the notion that I have a better memory for colours as well, rather than words, or, worst of all, spoken communication. I'd be interested to see what others score.
ReplyDeleteI scored 38, higher than I'd hoped for if I'm honest. But it was noticeable that the points were all scored across a very narrow colour band - the colours that I used for my interpretation of the fresh theme!
ReplyDeleteClearly, Linda, you have exhausted the little receptors in your eyes for that range of colour. I would prescribe a steady diet of oranges.
ReplyDeleteI am going to admit right now to getting a perfect zero on the test. Really.
I also received this test from someone else this morning. I scored 25. It was hard work trying to rearrange those colour chips! Great job Linda F!
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm totally cross-eyed with a score of 31. My excuse is that I'm sitting
ReplyDeleteby the window at the lake. But I'm not sure I would do better in a dark room! Well done Heather, and Linda F.
I got 27 and have tried it once before so I think at least this is an improvement.
ReplyDeleteYikes, 61. I will be trying another computer tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteAge helps- I got 7 Marion
ReplyDeleteI always told my daughter Jess that she had an excellent eye for colour, and she got a 4. Her boyfriend, who works in the fabric business, got a 7. (Yes, it's possible, some day I may have a fabric distributor in the family. I get all weepy just thinking about it.)
ReplyDeleteYou and me, Heather. 0 - really. It was fun - and thanks for the other two colour links. Always useful to have these tools in my 'bag'.
