Green

I absolutely love green and use it all the time in my work, but it is a colour I rarely, if ever, wear. The squares in this piece are collaged onto a backing and covered with tulle.  I quilted the word GREEN using white thread and then painted the leaves with white fabric paint. The edges are satin stitched. I am still getting used to the new format. I find it quite small.....

  1. Very delicate and fragile looking - not sure why. Love your greens, Helena. Hilary

  2. I too am finding the format rather small. Love the lettering style, you could make a complete font out of it.

  3. Like the delicacy of this piece ofset with the white. Your different background fabrics were good choices for this piece.

  4. Considering how large you normally work, Helena, I'm not surprised you find the 8.5 x 11 tiny. But you seem to have found a design that works well in the smaller format.

  5. Ditto to what the others have said. I do like the pops of 'muted red' minimally scattered adding interest.

  6. Looking at this posted photo, I think I should try and retake the photo. The actual colours are much more vibrant.....

  7. This challenge has produced such a variety of results. That lettering must be tiny and even more amazing if you normally work to a much larger scale!

  9. Makes me think of an aerial view of a field with whimsical crop circle designs. Very calming.

  10. I love your contrasts! Green filled in with white leaves but still "reads" green! The background a variety of fabrics but muted with tulle. Brilliant!
