HUNDERTWASSER

This was far more difficult than I thought it would be!  I started twice and on both occasions threw them both away and then finally decided on a different approach and tried to simplify.  I used the background of one of his pictures as my background interpretation and another for the rest of my interpretation/inspiration.  I also tried to bring in some texture which you will see in my final piece, making cords in various bits and pieces I found in my collection of stuff one tends to collect over the years and which I knew I would use some day!  I guess that I can say I did have a good use for some of it!  I also used gold foil on parts of the piece.  I can't say I am overly excited with what I have done, but hopefully it gives an idea of where I was going.

This was very challenging, but in the end I feel OK about it.

  1. This work is amazing as you have managed to simplify a most difficult artist whose paintings are incredibly busy. You were also able to hone in on his use ,sometimes, of more subdued colours. The mustardy tones here really appeal to me and I hope I see this piece in real life sometime because the threads you have chosen look wonderful!

  2. I understand what you went through! Your persistence really paid off! I love how you combined elements from the two works to make this piece your own.

  3. Your combination of elements from two paintings to create your own piece is a study in composition. Really nice. Isn't it great to find there was a good reason to hoard all that 'stuff' and to find such a good use for it?

  4. Very clever combination of the elements from both paintings. I particularly like the touch of hand quilting and the use of cords. Very clever.

  5. I think you were extremely successful and love what you have come up with. It's great to look at it close up and see the textures you have achieved.

  6. The elements that you have chosen to go with the spiral work really well, and the background colour makes it all look a bit more sophisticated. I really like it.

  9. It's interesting how some of us struggled with this artist, and others found him relatively easy. I think you've done a great job with this, I keep finding myself looking into the background to interpretate what is there.

  10. You have put the inspiration from the two paintings together so well. I too think it is more difficult than I thought it would be.
