Colour issues

I have my design worked out for our Pierneef challenge and wanted to use his work as inspiration for my colour choices too but oh my is that difficult. Take a look at these two versions of his work 'Geloftekerk' las just one example:

I  suspect that the end result will reflect the fabrics that I have to hand as much as the colours of the landscape that he painted!

  1. I have been really struggling with Pierneef. Unfortunately I have felt totally uninspired, though I have finally decided to try something based on one of his linocuts. I'm hoping to get it printed by the end of the week, so that I can quilt it whilst I'm in England.

  2. I have actually finished my piece, due to impending holidays immediately after the FOQ, and actually challenged myself to only use fabrics I already had in my stash. Maybe I would decided otherwise if I could see some of his paintings in real life. Colours on the computer are so variable that it's impossible to ascertain which are the ones the artist actually used.
