A new chapter opens

It is sad that Venetta's health and other pressures on her time have made it impossible for her to keep up with the challenges.  She is building a new house (very stressful) and has a first grandchild (absolutely fantastic) and is still getting over all her health issues.  Venetta, we have so enjoyed your time with us and value all your contributions.  They have enriched our group and your warmth and generosity to us when some of us visited Houston is legendary!  We genuinely will miss you and your creativity.  Please stay in touch and let us know how you are getting on - it will be appreciated.

So, we have a new member - Jinnie Robison who lives in Paris.  I will leave her to introduce herself but she is a great sport because when I cheekily suggested she might like to try to join in the grey challenge - she has risen to the challenge!!!  What a sport.  No pressure Jinnie.

Welcome to the group.  Hope you feel part of us in no time at all.

Hilary

  1. I am sorry to see you leave the group, Venetta, but I can see you have some very good, and positive, reasons for doing so. A new house and a new grandchild... so exciting!

Jinnie, I am looking forward to reading your self-introduction. I have found the 12btd group to be wonderfully supportive. The challenges have really pushed my work forward, and I have learned so much from the other members. I hope we get a chance to meet "in real time" soon. Welcome!

  2. Venetta it's been good sharing your work and your input will be missed. But our lives are not static so I understand your decision to concentrate on other things and wish you well in the future.
And welcome Jinnie! You do realise that by allowing Hilary to persuade you to join us for the 'grey' challenge you are setting a dangerous precedent for quick turnarounds!!!! That said we will not think any the less of you if you have a change of heart and decide to pick up the reins after this challenge is complete - it will be good to have you with us.

  5. Venetta, it was lovely to have you in the group and so nice to have met you in Houston. I will always remember the lovely picnic you and your friend brought for us to share - it truly made us feel welcome. I hope that the house construction goes well and that you are enjoying your grandchild - lucky lady! Take care and drop us a line from time to time.

  6. I echo the comments of the others about how nice it was to have you as a member of our group, though sadly I never managed to meet you in person. Do enjoy the house construction and, of course, your grandchild. All the best for the future!

  7. Dear Venetta, I have such happy memories of our meetings in Houston! I hope that you can take the time to get together there this year - Marion and I will be there and I will have two quilts in the show. I will miss your wonderful contributions to the group but understand how busy you are. Hope our paths cross again soon...

Your friend Kathy would appreciate it - She is a golden mix. Looking forward to seeing your Wyoming Prairie Winters and getting together. I will email you separately about getting together there..... Can't wait!

  8. Venetta, it's sad to see you leave the group. I reviewed all your pieces to have a picture of who you are as I wasn't lucky enough to meet you in Houston. You have a wonderful variety of pieces to represent your time with us. We will miss your talent. Enjoy your new ventures and I expect you will be checking in on us from time to time.

  9. My Dear 12 By the Dozen Friends, It is with deep regret that I am stepping out of this wonderful group. Life is a roller coaster and 2014 has not allowed me to create as I would have liked...and am sorry that I have not been able to participate as promised. However, my years as a member of this group have been very nurturing and provided a solid foundation for my fiber art...for which I will be forever grateful! Although I will be off-line, I consider myself a lifetime member of 12 By the Dozen linked by our creative passion of art quilting. I look forward to seeing you/meeting you if you ever get to Houston and hope that you will include me to any retreats in the future. I, too, will have a quilt hanging at International Quilt Festival this year. It is my "Wyoming Prairie Winters" (traditional) that was accepted for the new Larkin publication: 500 Traditional Quilts. They will have a Special Exhibition of these quilts for the 40th anniversary of IQA. Thank you again, my dear, talented friends, you are a significant portion of the fabric of my creative life. Best wishes to all for much success! Love and Hugs, Venetta

    2. Dear Venetta,

Life dealt you a bunch of lemons this year and I know that one day you will be ready to make lemonade with them. I am so pleased that you feel we have helped you on your fibre art road - what more could we ask for? Your contributions have enhanced the group and added to our journeys. Of course you are a life member - I hope you will stay in close touch and let us know how you are getting on. Congrats on having your quilt on show at Houston this year and in the book. I'm sorry I won't be there to see it.

      Hugs across the 'pond',

      Hilary
