Un-named colour

Like a lot of us I began by associating Michele's colour choice with food, probably because I had no fabric that seemed right, quite a few scraps but nothing of a suitable size. Nor could I name the colour to start working on associations!
I kept looking at my spice rack but wasn't getting excited. Then my daughter gave me an Easter egg and I was off! It wasn't a sugar rush but the wrapping that excited me, scraps of fabric, sparkly paper in just the right colour with a bit of gold - what more could I want other than a bit of contrast to make the eye travel.

I thought I'd try some fan quilting for something different - I've done it now, and wouldn't use it as an allover pattern again, but you've got to try these things!

  1. Nice balance and positioning of colours, Linda. I like the piece very much. The glint of the sweetie paper adds a special touch.

Mm, can sympathize with not using the quilting pattern as an all-over pattern again...

  2. I like the way you have integrated the bits of blue into the lovely, complicated mosaic of gold. Did you consider varying the widths of the blue bands? Love the textural quality of the darker blue.

    1. No I didn't, but I can see how static they are now that you've asked the question!

  3. I do like this piece - the colours are very vibrant and I have found it very interesting that a lot of us have incorporated blue into their designs. Very nice piece.

  5. This reminds me of a landscape or rather seascape. Beautiful vibrant colour. Love the sparkle of gold.

  6. I like what you have done and maybe I am the only one but I do think the fan stitching has worked in this piece adding a bit of movement and texture.

  8. My first thought before I read your blurb was that you sure had lots of appropriate coloured fabric. I like the addition of foil and it's very interesting what finally inspires us to proceed with our projects.

  10. Love the gold on the yellow, though I agree with with Heather that varying the widths of the lower bands would have been interesting. The fan quilting is interesting, but I can see why you might not use it again. Brilliant use of the blues in the upper section.
